Legal Research Analyst

Job Duty

  • Research and analyze relevant precedent to identify critical legal authority on specific issues for cases of personal injury, intellectual property, workers’ compensation, immigration, and crime as requested by the attorneys of the law firm (30%)
  • Prepare briefs, legal memoranda, or statements for cases to thoroughly and accurately respond to the relevant requests from attorneys (25%)
  • Keep abreast of changes in the laws, statutes, and regulations relevant to the practice areas of the law firm and prepare change notices to attorneys and paralegals when such changes occur (20%)
  • Draft legal advice based on attorneys’ instructions and submit to attorneys for review, revision, and finalization (10%)
  • Conduct legal research of Chinese law including contract law, business law, and trade law, prepare relevant briefs and memoranda to attorney, and join an attorney to provide advice to U.S. investors who are interested in investing in China (10%)
  • Conduct other relevant legal research as related to the operation of the law firm (5%)

Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or Paralegal Studies, prefer LL.M./J.D. degree
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with legal online research tools including Lexis, Westlaw and others
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high volume of documents
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks on daily basis
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Case File Manager (Personal Injury)

Job Duty

  • The CFM signs up the client directly or takes over the client’s intake process after the Department Manager has signed up the client. The intake process involves filling out forms, preferably on the computer. The forms include all pertinent contact information, such as accident details, police report, property damage pictures, insurance information and any medical treatments.
  • The CFM opens the case and enters all notes from the intake form in Abacus system.
  • The CFM makes arrangements to have the Property Damage (PD) repaired with an auto body shop within the network of the law firm’s contacts.
  • The CFM coordinates the Medical Treatment (MT) of the client by ensuring that they are seeking treatment through their doctors or other appropriate medical providers.
  • The CFM contacts both the client’s and opposing party’s insurance companies.
  • During the MT process, the CFM is responsible for:
    • Maintaining regular contact with the client,
    • Scheduling necessary medical appointments and
    • Ensuring all appointments are kept by the client.
  • The CFM is responsible for ensuring that all documents related to the case are properly scanned into the Abacus file.
  • The CFM will obtain all final Medical Records (MR) and bills and prepare a report for preparation of the Demand.
  • The CFM is responsible for providing regular updates (at least every two weeks) to the PI Department Manager on the status of the case.
  • Keep abreast of current Personal Injury regulations and procedures relating to Personal Injury.

Requirement

  • Requires 3+ years processing all aspects of a Personal Injury process.
  • Experience working with clients, insurance adjusters and medical providers
  • Experience in writing demand letters.
  • Proficiency in English and Mandarin language is required.  Knowing both Mandarin and Cantonese language is a big plus, but no essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with all Personal Injury process and issues of complexity.
  • Ability to manage a high caseload
  • Requires independent decision making and the ability of problem solving
  • Displays cultural sensitivity and adaptability
  • Requires effective communication, effective listening, sound judgment and alertness to the nuances of each case.
  • Able to function with a high level of patience, tact and diplomacy in handling negative or challenging situations
  • Excellent organization skills. Excel in time management as well as customer service excellence
  • Must be detail oriented, accurate with the ability to work under constant interruptions by telephone and/or visitors.
  • Able to convey information and ideas through speech in ways that others will understand.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
  • Experience in legal or insurance field a plus.

Legal Translator

Job Duty

  • Translate clients’ questions and inquiries from Chinese into English, and translate attorneys’ legal advice from English into Chinese (15%)
  • Assist in the preparation of patent evaluation reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, and translate patent-application related documents from Chinese into English (15%)
  • Translate business documents including business contracts, company bylaws, operating agreements, employment contracts, and business letters for companies and individuals (20%)
  • Translate immigration related documents including business plans, financial reports, business formation and transaction documents, lease agreements, real estate transaction documents (30%)
  • Research legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation (10%)
  • Liaise with clients to discuss any unclear points, requirements, and other concerns, simultaneously or consecutively interpret for video conferences between an attorney and a Chinese-speaking client/potential client outside of the United States, proofread, edit and provide final versions with a grammatical, well-expressed version of translated text (10%)

Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or English, prefer LL.M./J.D. degree
  • Proficiency in Chinese and English
  • Familiarity with legal terminology
  • Familiarity with U.S. and Chinese cultures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite

Patent Technology Specialist

Job Duty

  • Assist IP Attorneys by performing patent prosecution
  • conduct patent research and patent applications to United States Patent and Trademark Office
  • Work with IP Attorneys in analyzing products or technologies and in providing evaluations to clients on freedom to operate and patent infringement opinions
  • Review, compile, and maintain list of patent applications

Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Experience in Patent application and patent case handing

Marketing Coordinator

Job Duty

  • Evaluation of current marketing strategies and make marketing plan

Job Duty

  • Produce video and manage multimedia projects that support branding plans and strategies and maintain consistency with communication standards for attracting specific audiences and increasing media growth
  • Anticipate, evaluate, and analyze video and multimedia needs. Recommend and implement methods for effectively communicating to target audiences. Advise managers and staff on the appropriate methods for developing video and multimedia content
  • Coordinate with case managers to record client testimonials following successful case settlements

Receptionist (Legal Office Assistance)

Job Duty

  • Front desk reception. Receive and greet clients, who are primarily Spanish-speaking.
  • Phone duties such as client status calls, and new leads will take up a majority of the time.
  • Provide general administrative support such as booking new client consultations, maintaining prospective client lists, provide support with scanning, mailing duties, and payment processing.
  • Coordinates and schedules appointments for attorney; maintains current and accurate calendars.
  • Open and close case files.

Requirement

  • 1+ years’ experience in a professional office environment
  • Professional and friendly demeanor both on the phone and in-person
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Ability to work calmly and productively in a fast-paced work environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Experience with Abacus, a plus.
  • Ability to stay focused on numerous details and to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Immigration law experience is a plus, but not at all required.
