[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]From all of us at the Law Offices of Scott Warmuth, have a fun and safe Halloween! According to the Centers for Disease Control, children have about a 300% increased risk of being involved in a fatal pedestrian crash on Halloween when compared to other nights. To stay safe, we recommend following some common sense safety guidelines.
Drivers: Stay Alert
There are many more children on the roadways, driveways, and sidewalks then you are used to seeing, especially in residential neighborhoods.
Drivers: Slow Down!
Improve reaction your reaction time by slowing down to at maximum 5 mph BELOW the posted speed limit.
Trick-or-Treaters: Wear Reflective Clothing
When preparing children to walk around a dark neighborhood, the best defense is to ensure they're visible. Reflective clothing will warn vehicles that they are present. You could also put reflective tape on candy bags.
Trick-or-Treaters: Avoid Sight-reducing Masks
Not being able to see oncoming traffic can lead to accidents. Ensure that costumed children can see out of any masks without obstruction.
Happy Halloween! Stay Safe on the Roads!
