Please Celebrate the New Years Holiday Responsibly!

Happy New Year

New Years Eve and New Years Day are two of the deadliest holidays on the roads, and the main reason is alcohol-impaired driving.  About five times as many people are killed in drunk driving car crashes on New Years Day than an average day.  The hours between 6 p.m. New Years Even and 6 a.m. New Years Day are especially treacherous.

While planning your New Years celebrations, consider taking precautions if you are going to be on the roadways.

  • If you or your party will be consuming alcohol, designate a sober driver
  • Do not allow anyone who has been drinking to get behind the wheel
  • Consider staying the night at your destination
  • If hosting a party, help arrange transportation and/or lodging ahead of time
  • If you see a drunk driver on the road, notify authorities

Celebrate the beginning of 2018 safely.  Happy New Year!
