[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In the wake of Assembly Bill 1244, the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) has now suspended 227 medical providers from providing treatment to injured California workers. AB 1244 was passed in an attempt to limit workers' compensation fraud; it suspends any medical provider previously cited with illegal activity. A separate bill, Assembly Bill 1160, allows the dismissal of illegitimate liens filed by the suspended providers. To date, more than 30,000 fraudulent liens have been dismissed, with more than 465,000 liens have been frozen pending criminal cases. The removal of these fraudulent expenses could lead to improved workers' compensation benefits, a reduction in premiums, and improvement in services. Workers' compensation in California is difficult enough to handle without fraudulent providers trying to game the system. The Law Offices of Scott Warmuth works with its clients to make the injury recovery process as simple as possible.
