Massive information campaigns have not put a dent in distracted driving numbers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that, on average, distracted driving results in over 3,200 deaths and 400,000 injuries every year. These numbers have been increasing over recent years.
What is distracted driving?
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), distracted driving is one or more of the following actions.- Taking your eyes off the road
- Taking your hands off the wheel
- Taking your mind off of driving
