Applicants who are able to prove that their documents were delayed in the mail or were delivered properly on the deadline and were rejected as late anyway will be allowed to reapply for renewal. The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) renewal application deadline was October 5th.
While the USCIS has promised to reach out to applicants whose applications were rejected as late, it is unknown if or when this outreach will happen. Many lawyers representing DACA applicants have reported seemingly arbitrary denials and potential bad faith examinations of applications. Only after it became widely-reported that applications sent weeks early experienced mail delays and applications delivered on the deadline were rejected as late did the government offer recourse.
